The project was achieved on time and on budget

Coldwells Build completed a full rebuild of our 200-year-old cottage in the woods. The project was complex and comprehensive, especially as we wanted to preserve original features of the old cottage, including its exterior. The project was achieved on time and on budget.

We liked working with Ross and his team, who professionally handled a sensitive site and reassured the neighbourhood as they worked. We are very happy with the work, the attention to detail and the customer service from Coldwells Build. We would be happy to speak in person with anyone who wanted to hear the customer's perspective and view our project. It has exceeded our expectations.

We paid the original quote to the penny

We had a beautiful eco-house built by Coldwells Build and couldn’t be happier with it. After some research, we determined they were the local experts in environmentally friendly housing, so we got in touch and immediately hit it off with the firm’s owner, Ross.

He explained the options for our plot and then gave us a quote within our budget. The only increases were for extras we requested during the build. Otherwise, we paid the original quote to the penny. The communication was excellent throughout, whether from Ross, his quantity surveyor, Ashley, or his foreman, Nicky.

At all times, the site was kept safe and tidy. The phrase "It looks like a building site" definitely didn’t apply in this case. Our local farmer even said he was impressed by how there wasn’t any mess left after each day’s work. Our finished house is a joy to be in. I’ve lost track of how many neighbours have said how much they like it.

You often hear horror stories about building a house, but we couldn’t be more pleased with how our build went. That’s in large part down to Coldwells Build making everything easy for us. We would recommend Coldwells Build to anyone looking to build a home.

They provided key guidance so as to not hinder project timescales

Following the initial meeting with Coldwells Build, we knew we wanted them for our project. We loved their confidence, energy and inspiration and they already had strong ties with our architect, so we felt certain they could make our vision come to life.

Aside from the project’s challenges, we live overseas and had obvious concerns about the project’s smooth running and general flow of discussion. We couldn’t be present on site to witness developments, so the team at Coldwells Build made availability their top priority in the crucial moments, providing key guidance and solutions, so as to not hinder project timescales.

Input on design, suppliers and materials was invaluable, especially during the pandemic, where material supply was severely impacted. Quality of workmanship and service delivery were impeccable. Coldwells Build’s approach to the project and the highly amicable nature of the team has made for a perfect family home.

The team was reliable, trustworthy and cleverly mitigated costs

We have enjoyed a great relationship with Ross and his team, he has a strong and professionally close leadership style with his whole team and empathy with the customer (a rarity these days).

The team was reliable and trustworthy without reservation. Hurdles appeared but were tackled with the utmost professionalism—from the need for high-quality dry stone dykes and a tricky Gabion wall, to heavy rain, extremely strong winds, and—hidden until excavation—the most enormous site boulders. Coldwells Build was not fazed by this, but moved ahead regardless and overcame difficulties one by one.

They cleverly mitigated costs for substantial foundations by using a rock crusher to supply the substantial base material already on site.

The whole team showed great courtesy to us and enthusiasm to deliver the best product possible and were happy to follow up to sort out the few faults found in delivered trade items and made additions to improve practical liveability.

A small, focused and dedicated building company

Coldwells Build were recommended to us for our house build as a small, focused and dedicated building company which has a track record of delivering high quality builds with the personal touch.

When meeting with Ross and his team, it was apparent that we could work with them, and over the course of the project we built up a great working relationship. Even during tough times, the team worked solutions to meet our expectations, ensuring they delivered the house we always wanted. Now that we are living in the house we are really enjoying what has been created.

All through the project they met deadlines and kept us up to date with build costs

Over the past few years we have used Coldwells Build to do several projects at our traditional farmhouse. So, when we made the decision to build a new home, we didn’t hesitate to ask Coldwells Build to take on the project.

Everyone who worked on the house was friendly and patient. The team listened to what we wanted and worked to a very high standard. Throughout the build, there were things that were not straightforward or needed changing, but Coldwells Build always had a solution for every obstacle. All through the project they kept us informed of everything that was happening, met deadlines and kept us up to date with the build costs. The team are easy to communicate with and are always very helpful. Coldwells Build were a pleasure to work with and I would highly recommend them to anyone who’s looking to build their own home.

Coldwells Build helped determine areas where we could make financial savings

We are delighted with the Coldwells Build renovation of our property. The croft, cottage and byre have been skilfully restored and enhanced, with the new extension connecting them beautifully inside and out. Bringing together three different buildings meant it wasn’t a straightforward project, but thanks to Coldwells Build, it was completed to a high standard and came in on budget.

This was an extremely important factor for us. Coldwells Build helped determine areas where we could make financial savings, which importantly, would not affect the integrity of the project. Coldwells Build were invested in delivering a product that we would be happy with and that they would be proud of - they have certainly delivered our dream home.

Easy to communicate with, helpful with cost saving ideas and innovative

Working with Coldwells Build on the refurbishment of our workshop premises was a positive experience from the start.

The team were easy to communicate with, helpful with cost saving ideas and innovative when problems arose. Their friendly can-do attitude and motivation to get the project completed showed real commitment. Reliable, skilled local tradesmen at their hardworking best.

Coldwells Build always responded to any request, never had to be chased

Coldwells Build took on an extremely difficult reconstruction, involving the removal of a major part of the centre of the house, which included the existing defective glass roof.

The project was much more difficult than a new build, with several subcontractors involved - who were all closely project managed by Coldwells Build. The method they’d suggested meant we were able to continue to live at home during the year-long reconstruction period. A major plus as far as we were concerned.

Coldwells Build were always there when needed, always responded to any request, never had to be chased, frequently suggested solutions and improvements which were invariably spot on. Working with them was a pleasure.

Coldwells Build helped us refine the plan and kept us focused

Right from the start, Coldwells Build helped us refine our plans and kept us focussed on what we were trying to achieve. Everything was done to a very high standard, much of it in appalling weather. The guys were unfailingly cheerful, polite and helpful. Unlike previous experiences with other building companies, Coldwells Build never once complained. If there were issues (there must have been plenty along the way), they never worried us with them - they just solved them and carried on. The quality of the work is fantastic, the communication reassuring. There is no question we would use Coldwells Build again. They have transformed the way we live in our house beyond our best hopes.

A professional, personal and high-quality service throughout

The scope of work was an extensive re-modelling of several rooms; involving structural engineering support, re-flooring, re-roofing and a double garage rebuild on a Grade B listed site. Coldwells Build provided a professional, personal and high-quality service throughout.

They were accommodating when there were unavoidable scope changes and highly solution minded. The team’s creativity was invaluable during challenges encountered and the end result was excellent. It was a pleasure to work with Coldwells Build and we would highly recommend them.

Reliable, hard-working, good at communicating

I have been using the services of Coldwells Build for three years now whilst renovating my house - which is a 200-year-old listed building. The service I have received from Coldwells Build has been excellent.

The team have overcome every challenge and provided very good recommendations. They are very reliable, hard-working, good at communicating and have not let me down. I will continue to use Coldwells Build in the future and have recommended them to friends and colleagues.

We were impressed by their eye for detail, as well as their friendly and professional approach

Working with Coldwells Build, we were particularly impressed by their eye for detail - as well as their friendly and professional approach. They always follow through, even with the smallest of details and really care that the finish is as high quality as possible, often coming up with clever ways around issues that inevitably pop up. I would recommend them without hesitation.

If any additional work was required, it was agreed in advance

Our project was a full internal refurbishment and extension to a 150-year-old property. Being an old property in disrepair, it threw up many technical challenges and obstacles, all of which were expertly overcome by Coldwells Build.

The communication was excellent. We were kept informed of what the team were doing, why they were doing it and when each stage of the build would be complete. If any additional work was required, it was agreed in advance. We were advised the reason why, what our options were and how much each alternative would cost. It meant we retained full control and had no surprises when it was time to pay the bill.

We complicated the build by moving into the property before the completion date. The team on site managed that situation really well. Respecting our family's boundaries, whilst keeping up with progress of the build. We'd have no hesitation in recommending Coldwells Build to anyone undertaking a construction project.

The coordination and planning of the build meant there was minimal impact on us

From the outset it was clear that Coldwells Build would deliver a professional service. The project management was excellent from start to finish. We received great communication throughout. The team undertaking the work were trustworthy, respectful and professional. They were always very patient with our requests and had great ideas.

The site was always left clean and tidy which was appreciated (as we have a young child). The coordination and planning of the build meant there was minimal impact on us and we were able to stay in the property throughout the work. We already have recommended Coldwells Build to friends and family and will reuse them again in years to come.
